Everyone was talking to me about it at work today since I'm one of the few Catholics there, but I honestly don't really care. I'm much more liberal than Mel, as are most Catholics, but I say let him make his movie. I probably wont see it. No one is forcing anyone to see it.

I may see it when all the fuss dies down--I don't like crowded movie theaters--or on video.

5. Couldn't give a flying fuck he's been dead 2000 years or so |
|
Let it be already. Hey look he's still dead.
Now don't get me wrong Jesus was one cool dude but all the shit that's been built up around him over the centuries is just so human it's sickening. To me Jesus = Love above all else this is what he taught and when I look around at America I see a whole bunch of supposedly Christian people and they hate anyone and anything that does not conform to their rigid belief system.
The fundies can circle jerk to this flick all they want it won't change the fact they are some of the most myopic and intolerant people in America.
Jesus is not amused.

24. Excellent answer! Although I appreciate the notion that Christians should |
|
be mindful of Christ's death and resurrection, we should also be mindful of his life and the call in our lives if we are to be followers...all too often that is the message that gets lost.

. . .
People should be getting a daily dose of the REAL death and carnage going on in Iraq,
I just can't get excited over a movie with actors covered in ketchup . .
But I CAN get upset over the apathy of the world as innocent people are massacred in the name of "freedom"
now THAT is sick . . .

I've been wondering what all the fuss was about. Not wondering enough to see the movie, as I'm completely uninterested in a Jebus flick.

The furor over this movie is silly. Its seems that people who are already Christians generally love it as they bring with them a context for what they are seeing. For others its just over the top violence. Its not going to convert anyone but it might bolster the faith of the already faithful.
Gibson is either a paranoid nut or a marketing genius for the way he has promoted this movie.
