Do you like it when pets lick your scabs? I don't. |
|
I have a bit of road rash from a bicycle wreck, and it must smell pretty good because my cat keeps trying to lick it.
My decades-dead springer spaniel used to go after scabs too.
I disapprove.

1. Never had quite that same problem, but |
|
I have worked in and around a paper mill for about 12 years, and cats do love the smell of my work-clothes and will just go crazy laying all over them. Cats love stinky!! I haven't had dogs in ages, but they (as I remember) will not only love stinky, but eat it too!!
Well, hope that you will heal somewhat unscathed!! Remember to put both feet down at stopsigns haha.

21. Foot-licking animals always find me... |
|
I'm a foot-lickers magnet.
Your dog wouldn't happen to be a Corso would it? This Corso i ran across was the foot-lickingest dog I had ever met.

9. We call our dog "doctor" because he has an uncanny ability |
|
to find any open sore or wound - even if you don't know you have it. I am so clumsy that I am used to smacking into stuff and most of the time don't realize I break the skin until my dog comes sniffing and lickin.
Its actually helpful - when he does it to the other pets we investigate and have found sores or wounds (from aggressive play or something).
However there are times when there is no wound so we think oh crap.. its cancer (because some dogs can sniff out cancer)

15. I should probably see if my cat can evenly rasp off the scabs. |
|
I think the dear fellow would probably dig too deep, though.
Maybe that's an unfounded prejudice on my part.

19. I have ingrown toenails, that always bleed when I trim them. |
|
My dog licks them, and honestly, they do seem to stop bleeding and heal faster.
Though, it used to totally disgust my ex. But she was not very animal friendly anyway.
The cats used to piss on her side of the bed to get even with her.

20. Believe it or not, it can be considered a "pack" perk. |
|
Animals know that you groom them; with the scab thing, they're grooming you. A study a few years ago pointed out that dogs lick their wounds for antibacterial reasons. I don't have it at hand, but I remember thinking, "aha!". They lick their own wounds, so yours are fair game as you are the pack leader and they want to help. I used to just figure that's why my late girl used to do it.
