111.9 pence = $2.00 near as dammit.
1 litre = 3.785 gallons
So gas costs $7.57 a gallon for me.
The pound has fallen sharply relative to the dollar recently. :hi:

is in the Python bit "Pet Conversions" in episode 10.
What's the English translation? :P
"Good morning. I'd like to buy a cat."
"Certainly, sir. I've got a lovely terrier." (Indicates box on counter.)
"No, I want a cat, really."
(Takes box off counter and puts it back as if it were a different box.) "Oh, yeah, how about that?"
"No, that's the terrier."
"Well, it's as near as dammit."
"Well, what do you mean? I want a cat."
"Listen, tell you what — I'll file its legs down a bit, take its snout out, stick a few wires through its cheeks. There you are, a lovely pussy cat."
"No, it wouldn't be a proper cat."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, it wouldn't meow."
"Well, it would howl a bit."

I am fortunate to live five minutes' walk from the station, which is on the main line to London and only an hour away.

but yesterday I've seen prices vary from 3.85 to 4.99, with about half at 4.49.
I've heard and seen reports of gas in nearby towns being as high as 5.99.
Mark.
