I know what I want for Christmas - a visit to the dentist! How do y'all care for your teeth? I have "dental insurance", but no dentist will touch my insurance with a ten foot pole. Even the two medicaid dentists won't accept my insurance.

1. What do you mean, they won't touch your insurance? |

That's odd.
Check with your insurance company and see who they have in their network that you CAN use.
But, truthfully, a checkup isn't that much - $90 or so, probably less. Fillings and whatnot can get high, but if you want a checkup - and you should get one if your teeth hurt - it could be very well worth it to fork over the money for an exam and find out precisely what's wrong, and then start exploring options.
My old dentist was one of the priciest (and best) in NY, and even there, a checkup and cleaning was only, I think, $105.

I have no insurance. I save up and try to schedule my appointments one a month (not every month, just when I need work done) so I can trim the budget and go. I'll die of other medical ailments while I make sure I keep up with my teeth. I don't know why. Maybe, I'm vain or something. I really don't want to end up being a stereotype though and I don't want to be on eyewitness news as a "witness" either.
I've been going to my dentist for years now. He knows I'll pay him, so we work it out where if I need work done, we keep it to $100 or less per appointment. That way I can just save up and go when I need to.

4. I had Periodontitis on my four lower front teeth |
|
They were loose and very painful. You could see the pus clinging to the teeth. The nicest feeling in the world was when my Dentist pulled those teeth one by one..quickly....I had tears running down my face it felt so good.
Teeth are a pain. If I lose all my teeth I would just adjust my dietary habits. I wouldn't even get dentures.
I know that wouldn't help me in the dating department, but I am OK with that.
