1. I heard one to two weeks...
2.1 million without power. Hospitals and oil infrastructure to be restored first.

3. Last night they were saying that some areas could take three weeks or more.
But that depends on the area, and the damage.

After Katrina, they got all the power in Mississippi back on in under two weeks, despite incredible destruction. Other areas in Louisiana, that wasn't possible due to the damage to powerlines and polls from falling trees. In New Orleans, the situation was completely different, since all the underground equipment and wiring was stil underwater two to three weeks later.

So, in short, they can't know when all areas will be back on. They should start restoring power in the next day or two to some areas, and others will take much longer.

Have you checked all the local news sites? khou.com was the one I watched last night. If anyone knows anything, I'm sure those sites will post it as soon as they find out.

4. I've checked everywhere
They're all skirting the issue. Don't want to piss off CenterPoint, I guess. Downtown (some) has power and they are a mile from there, so....fingers crossed....
