Actors you can't picture in another role?
So while I was watching Tina Fey do Sarah Palin on SNL (I could phrase that in a less pervbait way, but I don't care really) there was an ad for the new Brad Pitt movie, and it had J. K. Simmons in it, and I'm like "OMG! Run before the Aryans shank you!" because I can't not picture him as Vern Schillinger from Oz.

Kinda like when whatshisface was on The X Files and I couldn't watch because I was horribly anxious that he'd turn his hand into a sword and stab Scully in the eye.

Does anybody else run into this problem with certain actors?

25. Way too long though.
It took me 8 years to get through that horrible movie. The only thing worse was the sequel starring Bonzo's descendant.

8. I think she played Mary Magdalene in some Jesus movie
It was a made for network TV type, not one of the evangelical films. Don't think a nice (and very hot) Jewish girl like Debra would do one of those. Who knew JC was into redheads?

9. David Schwimmer.
He played the sweet, angst-ridden, sensitive, emotional character of Ross Gellar in the series "Friends".

A few years ago, HBO ran a mini-series called "Band of Brothers" - it's a WWII docudrama based on the autobiographies of several men who served in EZ Company Airborne. Schwimmer played, or should I say TRIED REALLY HARD to play a nasty, relentless, control-freak, lying sack of shit officer. I watched the entire series twice - and he just wasn't doing it for me.

He will always be Ross. :)

On a similar note, when I first started watching Lost I had a similar reaction to Harold Perrineau and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje because they were both in Oz as well, haha.

26. Well, I remember Laurie from his UK television work...
...in shows like "A Bit of Fry & Laurie" and "Blackadder" going back to the 80s, so it's hard for me to see him playing anything but a lovable buffoon.

21. Well, since Jerry & Elaine have already been mentioned
Let's just say that pretty much any member of the Seinfeld cast is probably going to be stuck in their old characters forever. Which is why TV shows with Michael Richards and Jason Alexander didn't do very well.

18. A Shout-Out For J.K. Simmons

His Vern Schillinger role on "Oz" was one of the creepiest acting jobs I've ever shivered through---completely evil, totally convincing. Fortunately, Simmons is a good enough actor that he's since pulled off more traditional acting gigs.

Can't say the same for a couple of baddies in two Clint Eastwood flicks: Jessica Walter as the crazed female fan in "Play Misty For Me" and Andy Robinson as the nutcase killer in "Dirty Harry." They did their roles so convincingly that their careers suffered....
