last evening my daughter and i . . . |
|
went out for dinner and ended up discussing the upcoming election.
(not unusual for us).
i felt badly for her, however, when she looked at me with tears in her eyes and said that she just could not imagine this country in the hands of mccain/palin . . . .she just COULDN'T - i was at a loss for words. i certainly hope upon hope that it doesn't happen.
we both felt a certain sense of a loss of control, a loss of hope and i suppose a loss of sense of *self*.
i want these feelings to be just momentary - to be able to gather strength again for the battle at hand.

2. Even if McCain and Palin do get elected, don't lose hope. Become involved. Keep this in mind... |

The Vietnam war ended under Nixon, not because Nixon was a wonderful, anti-war president. It was because of the social movement that was ammassed. Same goes for the civil rights movement. No matter who was president, it was the movement itself that really progressed the cause. If you feel like you have no control, become involved in a way that will help you take back control.
Hell, even if Obama gets elected, I think everyone should do that. It'll be a harder struggle if McCain is elected, but I think it's a necessary struggle no matter who is president.
