My dog needs her nails trimmed like a mofo, but I hate using the clippers.

Any of you mofos use one?

1. I never have, but the beagle's groomer does her nails with a Dremel.
I've never her seen her do it. She also runs the boarding kennel where the beagle goes, and usually gives a bath and a trim when she's there. But her nails always look nice.

3. How about the Furminator?
Anyone use one of those? I've got a golden that sheds like a christmas tree on new year's day.

13. Furminator works great!
Really gets the undercoat and it's comfortable on the hand. Still needs to be done regularly though. I had a Lab - different kind of coat than your Golden but lots of it. I used to leave the "reclaimed" fur out in the woods for the birds to use as nesting material.

Now, about that Pet-i-cure thing - been looking for an answer to that myself.

15. I haven't used one myself, but the place where I have my dog groomed got one
and swore to me that it was the best tool they had ever used on my gal.

4. This mofo prefers to pay $8 at Petsmart but the kid who did it last made my dog yell
and, in my inimital way, I said,"If you can't DO it, just leave it LONG!1"

I entered the area and held the dog while the dude cut the final nail.

6. I just ordered it.
My groomer started using it, cause my dog freaks out with the nail clippers. He was much calmer. Instead of paying her to file them every two weeks, I decided to buy this. I only hope it works1 Of course, when you call to buy, they keep you on the phone trying to get you to buy all sorts of other stuff, and the shipping is like, $14 or something! Expensive!

7. I bought a Dremel grinder last year and it has made it much easier
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000C6DZ2

My dog HATED having his claws clipped and he frequently yapped even though I never cut into his quick. It took the two of us to hold our 9 pound dog down to clip his claws. Now, with the grinder, it has gotten way better. I feel better in control because I am not afraid anymore that I might cut his quick.

The important thing is not to put too much pressure on the nail and not to work on one nail for too long (not longer than 3 seconds). The heat from the friction might cause pain.

The website below actually goes over the whole procedure step by step and helped me a lot:

9. This mofo wants one... the person we take our dogs to uses a Dremel
after she clips the nails to polish off the edges... the mutts get nervous at the "whirrrrr" but I love because the nails don't crack and snag.

I want to know if they work too...

12. I'd like to know more about it.
I tried using a wire cutter on doggy last week, but he didn't like it, so I stopped.

14. i use cat nail clippers for my cat and i don't have any problems
but my cat is so trusting and loving, my experience may not be the norm.

once i was about to trim his front paw claws and i lifted his paw and after i did, he rested his head on my hand. it was so cute. :loveya:

other time i had to put drops in his ear and as i held his head still to do it, a tear rolled out of his eye and over my hand. ohh poor baby.
