I'd just reinstalled Windows after a major computer crash, got it all up and running again... but suddenly today the computer started acting funny again. Mostly things related to the mouse. It was moving very jerky. It wasn't registering clicks sometimes. Sometimes it was registering them too long. I frantically reinstalled my anti-spyware and anti-virus programs and ran them both. Nothing. No change. I was getting frantic.
... until I realized that the little transmitter/reciever thingy for my wireless mouse had fallen down out of the line of sight. I picked it up, put it back on top of my desk. And the mouse worked fine.
D'oh.

Seriously though, I've only got a gig of RAM. Not enough to run Vista even if I wanted to. Which I don't. :P
As far as I can tell, I got a few bad sectors in a few important places on my last drive. And either that caused the crash, or just caused my antivirus program to go screwy enough to let something slip in through the cracks. Thankfully I'd just found a sale on 320 gig drives a week or two before that happened and grabbed one. So I was able to install on the new drive, and keep the old one intact to try and rescue all my old data from.
