My view out back has been destroyed |
|
I used to have a really nice view out of the back door of my condo, but it's gone now. Remnants of Ike along with a colliding cold front combined to make for some really high winds here in southwest Ohio yesterday. A lot of people are still without power, including my folks. I'm surprised I still have power.
The wind took out two mature trees in my back yard.

1. It's sad to see big trees go down. Glad they didn't land on your roof. |

I am so sorry to hear that...
It's always terrible when the big, mature trees go down.
I'm glad you still have power, though...
Please take care, and stay safe!

nice to look at too. And think of the wildflowers you'll have for a few years.

:(
G and I were out of power on Saturday night. We had a lot of high winds and heavy rain. No trees were damaged but I just came in from outside and our tomato plants took a beating. We'll still have some tomatoes but not as much as we'd hoped.
Hope the clean up in your yard goes well!
How are things otherwise?

5. Things are going alright otherwise |
|
I called my family members and friends and they fortunately didn't suffer any damage to their homes. I was out driving around a little bit ago and I saw a couple of places where huge trees fell on houses. One such place had a guy with a chainsaw standing by the tree that fell on his home. He wasn't working, though, and he looked like he wanted to cry.
I'm not feeling so great today and I just posted a thread about that. It will be alright, though. I got a feelin' things are gonna be changin'. Tell Gryphon I said hi.

6. I was going to call you last night on the way home from work |
|
I really wasn't sure if you'd be asleep though. Gryphon says hi back! He's having some health issues and I'm hoping it doesn't get worse. :scared: We've been there before though and we'll get through it again.
I too am working a LOT of hours these days. Mandatory overtime has me putting in 66 hours a week. 1 week down and 2.5 more to go.

over the years various storms starting with andrew (!) took out the line of oak trees behind my neighborhood, katrina finally finished the job, unfortunately, you do not replace oak trees quickly and what has come back is all sorts of junk species like tallow and privet, very sad
