Does anybody here remember that old Wendy's commercial
of the Soviet fashion show?

It was probably from the late 80s, but I don't remember for sure. Although, I suppose it would have been irrelevant after 1989.

Anyway, it shows a bunch of stereotypically large Soviet-style proletarian looking women in gray outfits, all exactly the same, walking a catwalk like at a fashion show. Some are holding beach balls making their outfits "beach-wear" and one holds a flashlight making it "evening wear"...

Anyone else remember?

I was typing my lecture on Soviet Constructionism last night when that popped into my memory and gave me a chuckle.

1. It was "swim wear," not "beach wear"
It was over the top funny for the times.

Glad someone else remembers it fondly, though.

3. I remember because it was pronounced "Svim-vehr" in the phony Russian accent..
The beach balls were what made it so funny however.

5. Is that a link to the commercial?
Once I get to a high-speed connection I'm going to watch it!

Heck, I'm going to show it in class during the Constructivism lecture! (I'm sure Wendy's wouldn't mind!)

Thanks!!!
