34. MAy I personally apologize for all the asses who don't understand

that the airlines don't delay flights for the hell of it.

Yesterday in Newark, my flight was delayed two hours waiting for the jet to arrive and then another 1/2 hour to repair a window. Fine by me; I'd just as soon not have a window pop out in flight and I'm glad someone is checking these things. A woman behind me kept making loud remarks about how the flight is delayed AGAIN! and why can't they keep the schedule, etc. Then, as we traveled around Newark taking our place in line, she was complaining every few minutes and let out a huffy "Finally!" when we did take off. She was quiet during the flight. then let out an "It's about time!" when we began our descent into Syracuse. A few minutes later, as we jounced through the leading edges of what was left of Ike, she let out a tremulous "What's happening!?!?!"

I'm no expert, but I think we landed at a pretty high speed as the pilot compensated for the wind gusts - I know we took up quite a bit of runway! I have a lot of respect for you airline people. Everybody has to get everything right to get me and my bags to the right place on time and that's what happens.

The two packages I'm expecting in the mail still haven't shown up, my work schedule hasn't been updated to reflect that I'm back in school for the semester, my girlfriend is uber stressed about her own work and school situation, and I found out that the lab tutorials for my Social Research class, which I start tomorrow, are going to be instructed by my most hated professor of all time. Good times.

Actually, I have had a pretty good day - bit tight on the legroom and high on the expense, but it's pretty amazing that I could wake up on one coast and go to bed on the other, and read the paper and drink some coffee in between.

Not only that, I left some beers in the fridge and did the dishes before leaving on this trip, which is a very nice thing to come home to!

Sorry your day was a hassle; hope tomorrow (and this evening) makes up for it...
