Fish and houseguests stink after 3 days |
|
I often have people visit for several days, even weeks, but this one's wearing me out. She is sleeping soundly but her unusually peevish baby is up every half hour. Colicky. Five months old. I've tried everything except tuning him out. That's HER method.

and let's just say, we did not "get along"... Every baby I had (3) , she would be at my house waiting for me to come home from the hospital.. Although I did need the help, and thanked her profusely, I always wished it could have been anyone else but her... My mother had kids almost as young as my own, so she was unable..
Once, my MIL announced to me, when I woke up from a nap.. "I washed your kitchen curtains..They were FILTHY"... I appreciated the washing of the curtains, but not the critique... (yes they were filthy, but did SHE have to say it :(..)
Looks like YOU will be the baby caretaker while she visits.. It sounds like he could use some care and comfort..:(

LOL. If they're that filthy, tell her they're part of a science project. Probably she was just trying to feel useful. How come nobody ever tries to feel tactful? This baby here, he's got himself a real dilemma. I put him down close beside his mom's bed, he seems to be ok. Then she gives out a snort or I-know-not-what, and he wakes up like a cannon went off. The only sure way to get him to sleep more than an hour is to go for a ride in a car. Babies must have some instinctive notion of purpose, like they're going somewhere and then they might as well sleep 'til they get there. Walking him around is good too. Good for him. :( The mama could use some care and comfort for a change, that's why she's here. DV thing. Battle fatigue. Wish I had a MIL again! Heck, I'd like to BE one at this stage.

3. For some reason no one ever visits me. |
|
Okay, so I live in Kansas these days, which is hardly high on most people's list of places to visit. But even when I lived in Phoenix, Arizona, and then in Boulder Colorado (altogether seven years in those two places) a total of two people ever came to visit me.
You're obviously doing something wrong (like being nice, maybe?) if people visit and then stay too long.
