I used to tolerate them because they did so much good work, even if I don't agree with their conservative spin on Christianity, or their proselytizing.

But I'm seeing now that they really don't do so much good work. At least the one in my town, anyway - they're turning people away left and right for not being "proper" enough or whatever fucking bogus bullshit criteria they have.

Maybe they're just running out of money.

I hope so.

I stopped giving them money years ago because of religious differences - used to be, I loved putting coins in their little Christmas offering pots. But then I decided I can't support a homosexual-hating organization of pissdrinking holier-than-thou Bible thumpers.

But now I refuse to give them money because, apparently, that money isn't making it's way anywhere to actually help people.

Fucking hate 'em.

I haven't put a single penny in their collection plates since they worked with the then new * administration in order to defeat protections for gay people.

2. Well, down here in the Keys

they have been almost first on the scene with two hot meals a day after Georges, Rita, Dennis, Katrina and Wilma. They go to the poorest and hardest hit neighborhoods in a little mobile food truck.

So I will continue to put money in their pot. I've seen them in action.

3. I got into an argument at the pub last week over Vancouver's safe injection site

The purpose of which is to prevent overdoses, get the injection of heroin OFF the streets and bring people into a setting where they can be immediately brought into treatment if they want. This asshole is against it.... and brings out the "I volunteer at the salvation army" line as if that makes him somehow an authority. I hate those fucks too.
