I had to bring my stray, Oliver into the house. He has his neutering and vaccination scheduled for the morning, so I wanted to be able to get him quick, and also make sure he doesn't eat after 10 p.m. as per the vet's instructions.
We're all sitting in my bedroom. Me in the SW corner, at my computer. The Old Cat - Chloe - in the SE corner. The New Cat - Oliver in the NW corner, and Smudge - the dog - in the NE corner. Every once in a while, Chloe starts hissing at Oliver, and in turn Smudge starts barking at Chloe. Oliver just looks bewildered. I suspect he's thinking "I didn't bargain for this when I sneaked into this nice lady's house to scarf up her cat food!"
It probably looks like the Israeli/Palestinian summit, but I'm encouraged that the hissing/barking seems to be occurring at less and less frequent intervals. And nobody's lobbed a grenade yet.
Any hopes for a long lasting detente?
