Why are cats such drama queens? |

My little girl kitteh Pixie got spayed today. She's resting comfortably, but now I have really complicated cat dynamics to deal with. It all started about 10 days ago...
Saturday morning before last, big fluffy cat Milo was showing symptoms of urinary tract problems, so I packed his ass off to the emergency vet's office. They checked him out, concluded he had a bladder infection and gave us some medicine. We were home within about two hours.
But since he now had that scary vet smell, Pixie freaked out and went into that redirected-aggression thing and pounced on the third cat, Jeoffry, who tends to be kind of sensitive. He ran off and hid, with Pixie shrieking after him. So I separated them. Then she pounced on Milo, who cowered in his kennel.
For awhile I kept Pixie in another room from the boyz, then started reintroducing everybody. Within a couple of days she and Milo were pals again, but Jeoffry remained traumatized. Every time he saw her he'd hiss and run away, and she'd chase him and there'd be this huge commotion.
So for the past week I've kept Jeoffry upstairs, away from Pixie, but let Milo come up to visit him from time to time. They are pals again, too. As it shook down, Pixie likes Milo and Milo likes Pixie and Milo likes Jeoffry and Jeoffry likes Milo but Pixie doesn't like Jeoffry and Jeoffry is scared of Pixie.
But now Pixie went to the vet and came back and she has that vet smell. I am keeping her away from the other two at least until her incision heals up. Milo is hanging around the other side of the door meowing at her, and Jeoffry is cautiously slinking around the house, occasionally hissing neurotically to himself.
Why are cats such drama queens? It's like junior high girls with slam books.

1. I forgot to mention that the boy cats are twice Pixie's size. |
|
This makes the entire spectacle even more interesting. Dog owners have it SO easy.

5. Cat drama seems to increase exponentially with a single cat |
|
In other words, cat drama is ten times worse with three cats vs. two cats. But hey, at least they aren't getting into trouble together as my two idiots are wont to do....

6. I have a cat twilight that hisses at any outdoor cat then will hiss |
|
at his buddy Monster. At first Monster didn't know how to take it and attacked. Thank god that has stopped. Now Twilight just hisses at the outdoor cats. She has learnt her lesson.
