"C'mon, he's young, handsome, a Navy hero... it shouldn't be too hard to convince America...
...that Dick Nixon's a winner."

I'm just now watching the first episode of 'Mad Men' on DVD - that is one inspired bit of writing.

2. Well, that's a stretch - although he did make Lt Commander.

Pretty much ran a supply operation.

He received training at Naval Air Station Quonset Point, Rhode Island and was assigned to Ottumwa, Iowa, before being relocated and serving in the supply corps on several islands in the South Pacific, commanding cargo handling units in the SCAT. During World War II, he attained the rank of lieutenant commander.

...but that's what 'Mad Men' is all about.

8. And it's getting better...
It's a stunning show, really captures the struggle between the restraint of the fifties and the awakening of the 60's...

I have Roberto Clemente's last Baseball card.

I went to see the Pirates play the Cubs in 67. Ernie Banks, Bill Maz, Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargle, Billy Williams all on the field in one game...

5. Isn't it a brilliant show?
The meeting with the tobacco executives was even funnier.

"This is America! The Indians gave it to us, for shit's sake!"
