3. I was new to computers...
And my brother (who had made my first one for me) showed me how to surf the net...

So I was just surfing away, going from website to website, checking out the links...

When DU showed up!

I lurked for about a month and a half...

Feb 2005 saw me sign up...

And the rest is history!

What a great place this is...

I'll look for you later today (Wednesday) and then we will get your post count up to where you can send and receive PM's!

Good night!

Was distraught and started googling trying to find some like-minded people.

Didn't register for some time and haven't been posting very long. But that doesn't mean that I haven't been reading and learning for years!

6. I was surfing the net and found an article featured on Bush
and Religion during the 2004 election. I loved the article and it ended by saying "God save us from these Christians."

I joined because I was worried about the aftermath of that election. At first, I hung out in the John Kerry Forum, because I really loved him and I still love him. I was devastated that he "lost."

I love DU. It's not perfect, but what is? We all have our bad days and some trolls, but it's great most of the time and there are some lovely people here.

Heck,I was so frustrated that I even registered to a board named:Fuck Bush !

Finally it was Michael moore who saved me.

On his site there was an interesting article with a

link to the place were it came from: DU!

It took me about 20 minutes of lurking before registering and voila!

My epic quest was finally over. Smart and cool peoples here.:toast:

And one day, someone from the Bartcop forum sent me a "come on over and join us at DU" message.

I still thank Bart for saving my sanity after 2001, but the forum there is fairly small compared to this. Although it's not as scary as GD............

I had clicked on a link a few years back that led me to FR. I lurked around there and saw references to DU and thought that if they hated it so much I had to check it out. I figured that any site the freepers held in such low esteem was probably a lot more in line with my ideals than they were.

29. I Googled "Gun Owning Democrats" and DU came up
in the hits.

I was seeking a forum for Democrats, like myself, who own guns and wish to see the anti-gun bias removed from the agenda of the Democratic Party.

Imagine my surprise when I found that some Democrats here are anti-gun!

I still find DU good for a few laughs, and have managed to really piss off some anti-gun Canadians, and I have mostly enjoyed my time here.

51. I've been reading top 10 conservative idiots for years.
Since 2002-2003, probably. My friend Alan suggested it to me. But he told me 'stay away from all the stuff on there, it's all crazy.' :P
I didn't start reading the forums till after the 2004 election. Made one account but never used it. To be honest, I was a little intimidated.
Then on September 10, 2006, I decided I'd had enough. The fifth anniversary of 9/11 was approaching, and important midterm elections were on the way. I wanted to be a part of it.
SO I joined.
Keith Olbermann's special commentary on the fifth anniversary of 9/11 was very powerful to me.
I hung out mostly in the Religion/Theology Forum at first. Made some pals there.
Then I moved on to the Lounge, and GD:Primaries.
That, as they say, is that.
