He was questioning some woman about whether she had had "multiples."
Back to business as usual, I guess.
on edit-- I just saw the GD thread-- guess he did talk about something of substance. Mea culpa.

2. I heard Clear Channel is dropping him |
|
because they are all scared about how the FCC is cracking down on indecency.
I think Stern's love affair with Bush has been properly flushed down the toilet. We may think Stern is an asshole, but he's pretty vocal about politics and I can see him being a big thorn in Bush's side.

I stopped listening to him last year because of his position on the war and attitude towards those opposing it. I also felt the show had lost a lot and was no longer fresh. I happened to tune in this morning and he is speculating that Bush and the Republicans were behind it because he is a threat to their right wing take over of the country and he could be a factor in a close election. It surprised me to here that because I thought he was behind Bush.

4. His about face on Bush has been recent |
|
and seemingly transparent--he's pissed now because of all the post-boob FCC stuff--but he is now virulently anti-Bush, calling him a chimp yesterday, imploring his audience to "make him a one-termer, like his dad," and he was raving about Franken's book the other day. I realize the anti-Stern vibe here at DU, even agree with a lot of it, but I would rather have a big mouth populist like this against Bush than for him, wouldn't you?

5. Stern has always disliked the Bush family |

Except for post-9/11. I'm sure many New Yorkers were pissed, so I imagine that's why he became so hawkish. I guess I can understand that. Hell, Dubya had over a 90% approval rating following the attacks. Before that and now, he's around 50%. Those people must have came and went somewhere.
Was totally against GHWB, and claimed on air in '92 that if he was re-elected, all women should just mail their vaginas to the White House, because GHWB would outlaw any freedom of choice on abortion. Pushed Clinton somewhat, but was miffed when he went on Imus instead of his show.
I'd say he's pretty centrist. To the left on issues such as free speech, abortion, gay rights. To the right on Iraq War and crime.
Stern speaks from his heart. He's not a conservative, and he's not a liberal. I can respect that he's not a shill for anyone. He just believes what he believes. He's just Howard.

7. We can't get the show in Richmond thanks to local grocery store |
|
See Howard was on for about a month and the local grocery store behemoth Ukrop's came out and said that they would ask their customers to boycott anyone who bought ad time on the show. They disapproved of the content.
You may be saying to yourself, a grocery store? Well Ukrop's is Richmond owned and operated. The founder (Mr.Ukrop) started it from scratch and they hire a lot of mentally retarded and disabled people so you have to give them credit for that but.....
It is hard to describe the way Richmonders (the only other place Ukrop's has a store is Williamsburg) LOVE Ukrop's. It is like a matter of social status to shop there. It is a bit high priced and my wife had a hard time finding UNPREPARED food with which to cook but it is like Richmond's own exclusive club. Many people meet their mate in Ukrop's seriously. They also funded and basically owned the "black owned" local chain in my eye so they didn't have to put a Ukrop's in THOSE neighborhoods thus tarnishing the image, they have just changed the name and the whole store near VCU.
