How do you think the Golden Girls and friends would vote? |
|
The characters, not the actors. :)
Sophia Petrillo and Dorothy Zbornak - ARDENT Democrats Rose Nylund - Old fashioned DFLer Blanche Devereaux - Republican Stanley Zbornak - Republican Harry Weston - Democrat Barbara Weston - Democrat Carol Weston - Republican
Why, yes, I do have a little time on my hands this afternoon, why do you ask? :P

How would the gang at Cheers vote?
I'm trying to come up with some guesses on that, but all I can think of tis that Rebecca would probably vote Republican...

Woody is from a red state, and a rural area at that. Could be a swing voter.
Cliff probably votes depending on who would look better on a stamp. Diane has to a staunch Democrat, though.

She's a schoolteacher - a struggling schoolteacher at that - with an elderly mother to support. She knows what the real world is like, and there's no way she'd vote for the POS 'Pub ticket.

15. "She's a schoolteacher" Isn't that the occupation of Harriet Christian? |
|
Besides she can always count on Stanley's alimony payments.

And please, Dorothy Zbornak is not Harriet Christian.
Dorothy's got a big bleeding heart. She's a liberal.

You know how much respect Dorothy had for Geraldine Ferraro!
What makes you say Stanley didn't pay alimony. Let's see. Married 38 years, cheats on wife multiple times, runs off with flight attendant. This is all back in the late 1970/ early 80's too. There is no way he didn't get nailed in divorce court.

18. They would have gotten divorced in the mid 80s (show started in 1985) |
|
and never once in all those seasons from 1985 to 1992 did Dorothy ever mention receiving alimony. In fact, on several occasions Stan came to HER looking for a handout. Alimony wasn't exactly ordered left and right in the mid-80s, especially for a woman who had been working throughout the marriage.
I don't recall Dorothy ever mentioning Geraldine Ferraro. Ask Rose about that - she's the one from Mondale's state.
Dorothy, a born and bred New Yorker, feminist, and liberal would certainly have been a big Hillary Clinton supporter. And she would gladly take her support of Hillary and shift it to Obama now that the primaries are over (...are we seriously having this conversation, and did I really start it? Pour me another drink, and let's continue)...and there is no way that this intelligent, well-read, thoughtful, informed woman would ever put her support behind McPain/Failin.
Maude would have been a Democrat too.

My prescription is two episodes of GG per night, starting at 1:00AM Eastern time. If you live in a time zone somewhere to the west of the east, it might be easier.
There will be a quiz in the morning.

I know her demographic.
Old, 2nd gen. Italian American, doesn't take any shit. Add to it the Brooklyn background with all its racial tensions. She'll never vote for the black guy.

But yeah, when push comes to shove, she is

12. Wouldn't be so sure about Blanche |
|
She can be incredibly shallow sometimes but she is compassionate and tolerant at other times and has been shown to have a social conscience. She'd probably be a swinging voter
