12. Performing write-offs!

All my coachees are sending me write off requests for late fees and finance charges on their credit card accounts... And I have had to sit there and approve them.

Just to give you an idea: I work with a team of 17 people this week. They put through on average about 100-130 write off requests a day. So far this month I have rejected one write off outright, because my coachee put it through incorrectly as a bank error - but there was no bank error on the account. Most adjustments that I review are performed correctly but those that aren't - half of the incorrect ones just need "re-working" (performed correctly), the other half are actually missing required extra adjustments - example: a card member states they didn't receive their last statement... we are required to place protection on the account for 15 days (stop collection calls, allow use of the card if available credit, stop going past due), offer to send out another statement, credit any late fees and issue appropriate finance charge credits (if applicable), and remove any late payment notations. If any of these are missed then we could get fined by the FDIC - $10,000 per occurrence I believe, if caught by them.
