McAfee Question
I have McAfee Protection for my computer...The e-mail protection slows my computer to a halt when I'm receiving e-mails; it also "takes forever" to download e-mails... What's the downside of leaving it permanently disabled?

1. I'd dump it altogether and go with AVG.
McAfee slows EVERYTHING down.

3. Thank You
I'll be surfing the net and my computer will come to a halt...Then I check and it's because I'm getting an e-mail...I disabled McAfee and there was no problems...Weird...

9. That's what I did a long time ago.
I was a big McAfee fan until it started slowing my computer down more and more. I went with AVG and haven't looked back since.

2. I use Avast which seems fairly unintrusive.
Some people recommend ClamAV. There is flvegan's suggestion above. All these things are free.

8. I'd second any suggestion that suggests that you never, ever, EVER use McAafee or Norton.
