Question for those with wood pellet stoves |
|
Basically, oil prices are just astounding, and we're looking at putting in a pellet stove. We bought a small ranch 1100sq ft. The hot water heater is electric. Is is possible to just use the pellet stove to heat the house and not have to depend on oil at all?
We have pipes in the crawlspace. Would they freeze if we didn't use the furnace all winter? We could insulate most of the pipes.
Haruka and I would just love to save some money and lose the dependency on oil.

that pellet stoves require electricity to operate the auger feed and the blower. I know that doesn't answer your question, but if your electricity is high or you have frequent power failures, they are not a good answer.

3. I love love love my pellet stove. Look at Thelin products. |

They look like pieces of furniture and not a box. You will need a marine battery for power outages, and most come with battery cables to hook it up.
Not sure about the crawlspace pipes; how does your furnace heat them?
