I have a deep fear when Obama wins this election.
I'm sure a lot of you will be taking the day off after the election.

So we are all going to be sitting here drinking booze and smoking teh pot, watching the returns.

When we see that it is apparent that Obama is going to win, YEARS of pent up frustration are going to come out.

The mods are going to be busy.

Everyone will be typing in all caps....things like...."ALOT IS NOT A WORD YOU FUCKING DUMB ASS STUPID SHIT".

"I'VE ALWAYS HATED YOU MOTHERFUCKER AND NOW THAT OBAMA HAS WON, I DON'T CARE IF I TELL YOU, DOUCHEBAG".

"YOU'RE A FUCKING SEXIST PIG AND YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOMBSTONED YEARS AGO".

"I FUCKING HATE CATS...WHAT IS WITH ALL THE CAT THREADS"?

You wait and see...I'm smarter than I appear.

3. I fear that too sometimes.
I can't believe how many people have drunk the Kool Aid--it really scares me.

5. I don't even want to go there.
Sometimes I just feel really scared. But then sometimes--I think--how could we possibly lose? We have so much going for us, so much on our side...

Still---it is hard not to worry. I have been disappointed many times in elections--I don't feel like I can stand to have my heart broken again. So I am trying to keep my hopes reasonable...

6. It's difficult not to worry.
As you said before, too many people have drunken the "Obama is a Muslim terrarist who hate Amurika" Kool Aid, that it's sick. Also, the fact that he really is a proud biracial man with African features certainly is off putting to a lot of white racists. :(

9. on the positive side--I do know a few people
who are supporting him who have not been Democrats in the past.

The father of one of my friends--a very successful psychiatrist in Florida, is going to vote for Obama--and I don't think he has ever voted for a Democrat.

And he makes enough money that he is going to be one of the ones to pay more tax and it does not bother him! He feels Obama is best for the country. I agree--but I have met this guy and I am shocked that we have his vote! He is a typical rich, white, southern, old-boy, country clubber! So we can't lose hope!

11. Yes, that is great, but
Gore and Kerry were good and they lost and they were white. :(

12. I know. and it is really scary
when I talk to people who are "supposedly" Democrats and they say--oh I just can't support Obama. When I ask why--"oh I just don't trust him"

yes--it is definitely going to be an uphill battle this time...

at least Gore and Kerry "fit the mold"....I don't have any idea how to combat this--because most people won't openly admit their racism. They won't discuss it, they won't listen to reason...it is extremely frustrating.

8. Since you brought it up I've been holding this in for a long time
It was Flavor-Aid not Kool-Aid. :-P

I hope that we're all not broken hearted again. I for one don't think I'll ever be the same if he doesn't win. Something will die inside me and I don't know if I'll ever be able to care again.
