Visiting Guests - where do they sleep? |
|
We moved to NC from NJ and have relatives that we would like to stay with us when they visit. Problem is I hate the idea of giving up a room to make it a dedicated 'guest bedroom'. We have a townshouse - it's small and I need that room.
I want to buy some blow up mattresses. Had one that would deflate within a few hours after laying on it. Anyone know of a good brand that will at least stay inflated?
Would mostly be for my son, his wife, and the kids. So they're young and can rough it for a few nights. Any tips?

1. We've Had Pretty Good Luck With The Newer Air Mattresses |

while camping. Coleman makes some that are guaranteed not to deflate.

Camping mattresses. Now that maybe the ticket! :hi:
I thought of a Murphly Bed but, would cost too much.

3. There's always a pull-out sofa. |
|
Kids should be fine with sleeping bags.
When I was growing up a friend's family had an actual mattress that folded up for storage, so they could make a proper bed on the floor for a guest and then put it back in a closet when it wasn't needed. That thing was great, but I think they'd bought it in Japan and I don't know if you can get them here.

6. Was thinking about a mattress stored in a closet |

or the garage. These damn rooms are so small and between windows and doors there's no wall space.

4. I have a futon in my sewing room |

When no one is visiting, it's a couch, when there are visitors, it's a bed.

10. Coleman air mattress + sleeping bag. |
|
A good canvas sleeping bag. They don't sleep IN the sleeping bag. They sleep ON it. It helps distribute the weight better than just the mattress alone. I know whereof I speak. I was a dedicated couch-surfer for many many years. That's the best combo.

 I love that line.
Saw that one in a store - BB&B? Thought that would be a good idea because of the height.

12. My guests sleep wherever she passes out...er...I mean... |
|
Well, they do sleep wherever they pass out. I don't have guests unless it's for party purposes and it's sorta laid back. Wish I could help you more. My family stays away from my house as "guest" status, because I have 2 cats that are basically opinionated demon possessed hellions. They are afraid of my cats.

14. Lot's of good possibilities. |
|
My husband wanted a bed but, no can do! Sofabed was a possiblity but, it has to go up to the second floor and they're heavy suckers. It's either going to be air mattresses or a mattress in the closet or garage.
I love DU and the Google. Most of my life's little problems can be solved by consulting with either one. :loveya:
Thanks guys!! :grouphug:
