2. yeah,
I live in a community with a lot of parents who believe their children can do no wrong...and the sense of entitlement that goes along with that whole attitude.

It is really tiresome. How can I teach my daughter that it is wrong to treat others badly when she sees a lot of people around her treating others badly?

I mean, you gotta do the best you can and hope it's enough. I don't see what else you can do.

4. Yah, I just had to vent about it.
I will not raise a spoiled brat. It goes against everything I hold dear.

5. Good for you.
If more parents were like you, this would be a better world. Too many parents see their children as extensions of themselves, and therefore they do no wrong. Its good to hear a parent who sees it important to raise a child to be concerned about how their child turns out, not what they accomplish per se...

6. You would not believe some of the stuff I have encountered since moving here.
Only three children (two from the same family) bother to send thank you notes for gifts given to them at the at least 25 birthday parties my daughter has attended.

OC is a totally different world from MN..I will tell you, I was only in MN for 5 days, but it was MUCH different from where I live...

8. I have been here for two years now and I still experience culture shock
People think nothing of throwing $1000 birthday parties for their elementary aged kids.
