3. There is no meaning, really.

We are born. We pay taxes for the Republicans to spend on bombs, biological warfare, chemical warfare, their rich buddies, and guns, then we die.

In the meantime, if we are incredibly lucky, we get drunk, high, loaded, laid, eat some good meals and make a few good friends along the way.

My best estimate:
If you absolutely must find some meaning to it all, look in the second paragraph, not the first.

And if you must have something to believe in, in life, believe in yourself. There are no heroes. The next best thing is being you. That will usually suffice.
