The BlueIris Semi-Nightly Poetry Break, 9/21/08
Edited on Sun Sep-21-08 09:59 PM by BlueIris
"Nights Under Water"

Down here our voice resort
to their primal energy. Down here our voices

are nothing if not vibrations. No one's silence,

she says, is like our silence,
and that's the line that ties us together.

No one of us will say this is
the beginning of love

if there's a chance in the morning
it will be clear
this was the beginning of fear.

We always imagined this moment like silk,
the dark, invisible strands of it.

We always imagined this moment but never
considered we were imagining

different things. The wine was the same,
but the restaurants were different. The words

the same, but the silences misplaced.

We always imagined
this moment without an end and the beginning
flowing out of the beginning

of all stories that begin
with a single pair of hands touching something so
smooth, they are afraid of what they might do.

2. My dear BlueIris!
Mmmm...very nice indeed!

This has an erotic strain that I find most lovely...

Very subtle too...

Thank you!
