A helicopter crashed through the roof of a Kenosha home this morning, rolling down the second-story staircase and missing a sleeping family of five before coming to a standstill in a neighbor's lawn, police said.

No one in the house in the 6000 block of 97th Avenue was injured during the 5:30 a.m. crash, but both people in the helicopter were killed, Kenosha Police Sgt. Cindy Fredericksen said.

Authorities did not release the names of those killed. But Terry Sapko, who lives near Chula Vista, Calif., said she believes her former husband, Alan J. Sapko, was the pilot of the helicopter. Alan Sapko's mother called her Sunday to tell her that there had been a helicopter crash and that she feared he had died, Terry Sapko said. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported Sunday evening that Alan Sapko died in the crash.

1. simply not true.
there is no way that copter went through the roof and came down the stairs.

It clearly slammed into the front of the house.

4. WOW..I would have thought the family inside the house
would have been injured. They were extremely lucky that it hit where it did.

RIP to those who lost their lives.

It must have been one of those Robinson R22s. http://www.robinsonheli.com/r22main.htm
