Special Needs kitteh is just wearing me out
Oh Milk...

She's got some chronic Herpes virus, and if she gets stressed, her eyes get all red and puffy, and tonight her gums look inflamed, and that's new, so I'm thinking it's related to the Herpes. Another dose of Lysine and cuddles.

She's adjusting to the new and better (aka not commercial crap full of grain and animal-by-products) food, so her bathroom visits are becoming more normal.

She's making me completely neurotic. I'm used to having a wicked healthy cat (aka PB), and now I'm constantly checking her eyes, nose, and gums, as well as the litterbox and the level in her food bowl. Oh, and waking up at 4am and hearing her drink water, and wondering if she's diabetic.

I think I'm more stressed than she is at the moment. This sucks, but I'm all in love with her needy cat self. Those crossed eyes do me in every time I get to the point of throwing up my hands in frustration.

Yeah, I wanted a perfectly healthy new cat, but...I gots Milk Chan, and I'm sticking with her. She's my lil cross-eyed, blue eyed, twitchy-eyed howling girl. :D

/vent over. :)

1. I don't know who I'm loving more at this point...
You or your cat. I'm so glad you're sticking with your cross-eyed, twitchy-eyed howling girl.

3. She's such a handful of cat...
Between her health and the cat integration, I'm exhausted just trying to make sure they both feel loved and to keep them healthy and not too stressed, combined with 3 classes, my new job, my internship and my thesis. I'm a wreck!

But my kitty babies come first. I'll sleep when I'm dead. Thank jeebus I'm getting a night away this weekend. Over 24 hours away from cats and homework, back home with my parents and brother. I need it!

Of course, I'm sure I'll spend plenty of that time worrying about my cats.

:pals:

2. My dear bi_baby...
I hear you!

It does sound very stressful...

But I suspect that you will get used to her, and things will eventually settle down...

Hopefully, soon!

BTW, it's excellent preparation for being a mom...;-)

4. Now I see why Sniffa named Cat #1
Practice Baby

I swear, this is almost worse. At least babies don't have claws and sharp teeth and can't run around the house at breakneck speeds...at least at first. :P

:hi:

5. Aww.
The good food you're feeding her will probably improve her health a lot, and if she's fairly young it's not likely she's diabetic. But I know how you feel -- I tend to hover over my guys if I think they're sick; I'm like a kitty hypochondriac.

Good for you for taking care of a sweet kitty..

7. D'oh! Maybe in transferring my own hypochondria to her!
:o

I never thought of that. I have it bad, but I've never transferred it to an animal!

I have a lap full of PB right now. He's consoling his mommy by attacking the cursor and snuggling hardcore. :D

6. You are such a good momma to Milk.
It is difficult, but it is so wonderful you are helping Milk Chan get through this. I hope Milk gets better. I hope that you won't have to worry so much and that you two can just enjoy each other's company.

11. Milk Chan is a lucky girl.
You are so good. I have known the sort of people who will get rid of an ill pet, and they are lacking in many ways.

You might also try giving her brewers yeast, in a little water. The B vitamins will help with the stress. Liver and fish are full of zinc, another nutrient for the immune system, and kittehs love ‘em.
