Anyone watching "True Blood" on HBO? |
|
I watched the first 3 episodes last night and they were better than I expected. I thought a movie about vampires who drink synthetic blood and a girl who was telepathic was a bit too much weirdness in one show but it really does work.
The show is done by the same folks that brought you "Six Feet Under" so there will be a bit of creepiness to it. And Anna Paquin is such a sweetie - proof that not all child actress (even those who won an Oscar at age 11) turn out to be drug-crazed adults.

3. It's better than I thought. |
|
I thought it would devolve into David Lynch-esqe cheesiness, but for a show about vampires, it's done pretty well. After the end of Generation Kill, which was after the end of The Wire, I thought my viewing of HBO original series would be done until Curb Your Enthusiasm starts up again, but they managed to bring another interesting series into the mix.

I wanted to watch Entourage - that is a good show too.
Jeremy Pivan owns that show and last week's episode he showed why he deserves all those emmys and golden globes.

9. Entourage is one of those shows.... |
|
...that looks like I would probably enjoy it if I started to watch it, but somehow I never got around to watching it.
It was the same with "The West Wing." The subject matter was right down my alley, but I never made time to watch it and therefore I was never able to get into it (even though I know I would have probably been hooked if I started.)

4. There's something fishy going on with Sam, too. |
|
My guess is he's a werewolf.

8. No idea, but here are some things I've noticed: |
|
1. The dog that mysteriously shows up whenever Sookie's in trouble.
2. In Sam's living room in last week's episode, they ended a scene by focusing in and lingering on on a painting of a dog over the couch.
3. In this week's episode, he barks/growls in his sleep, and Tara even comments on it later to Lafayette.

I was wondering about the dog and you know, I didn't link it to the fact that Sam barked in his sleep.
Nice pickup!

12. On a spoiler site I looked at this morning.... |
|
...a person who read the books the series is based on says Sam is a shapeshifter (and not a werewolf). It'll be interesting to see how/when that's introduced.

Yes, there are werewolves in the books, various other were-critters, and all manner of nonhumans that haven't come out of the closet yet like the vamps.

I'm watching it, but the acting is a bit horrid, imo.
I'm a vampire freak, so I'll watch it anyway. Perhaps it'll get better.
