If McCrazy wins, I am moving to Canada |
|
Don't bash me either - you guys will need a safehouse for the second "Underground Railroad" somewhere along the border.

1. I'm moving to Canada either way. |

A McCain "victory" will merely add urgency.

2. Alas, the only way I could move overseas at this point |

is by either becoming independently wealthy or marrying a foreigner.
If you're over 40, you will have a hell of a hard time getting into any developed country. Poor Third World places will take you, but not any place that would actually be an improvement over the U.S.
I'm not saying that I disagree with your intent: I've been alienated from American culture most of my life. I have no interest in "fighting" for a country where so many people actually take Rush Limbaugh and Fox News seriously.
But if you're going to leave, do it while you're still young.

4. I figure the country will fall apart so completely... |
|
...that the parts even remotely functional will be annexed by Canada or Mexico. My neighborhood of California will be Mexican, but the Canadian border will be a short drive away and friendly too, so I'll be able to visit Canadian San Francisco anytime I want to.
The McCrazy states will be sucked into a bickering black hole of right wing war game fantasies, and the Palin government will resemble that of North Korea. This disfunctional nation will survive by selling scrap metal and demanding petty appeasements in return for not blowing itself to bits or poisoning the atmosphere trying to get high tech weapons to work without competent scientists or engineers.
Angels do not keep airplanes flying, prayer does not guide rockets, and God does not bless those who play with plutonium.

5. I had this idea for a book |
|
Republicans bankrupt the US, and it dissolves (much like the USSR did)
Republic of California, Republic of Texas and the Confederacy all become seperate countries. Texas and California go to war, of course, with the Confederacy playing Austria to Texas' Nazi Germany.

minus the partisanship. The California Confederacy is (nominally) led by one John "Warwhoop" Tumbril, but each and every decision is made by direct popular vote (this was written before the "Total Recall"). The Chicago Imperium is full-on fascist, while the Atlantic Union, the closest thing to the USA we know, is reduced to roughly the original thirteen.
And the only spot on the continent with a hard currency backed by gold? Why, Vegas Free State, of course. :-)

:scared: For me moving to SF might be the way to go, other than the cost of it!
However, some Canadians seem to have bought some of that conservative crap, though. It's not that they don't have any fundies or RWers up there.
