Idiocracy in real life
Went to Taco Time for lunch, ordered a #1 special which came to $6.51. I thought I would make the change easier and handed the cashier a twenty, a one, two quarters and a penny. She punched it into the register and when it told her I had $15 in change, she muttered, "that can't be right!" Then she dug out a pad and pen and started scribbling. After a few moments, she was satisfied and tried to hand me $14.50 as change, which I refused to accept. After going back and forth for a while, the manager got involved and eventually the matter was eventually resolved.

Pretty much my :wtf: and  moment for the day.

1. You can thank the Republicans for creating a generation of mathematically illiterate fuckstains.
Also, thank the asshole teachers who let them use calculators and computers in class, instead of teaching them how to do math.

This country is at the top of the list of mathematically and scientifically illiterate fuckstains.

6. I wanted to see her attempt long division
I admit that I'm a math geek and that as an engineer have probably have more math than most, but making change is pretty basic stuff. You don't exactly need differential equations here.

8. LOL. No, I'm pretty sure she was a home-grown idiot
She did have the Sarah Palin up-do or whatever that hair's called. That made me chuckle to myself until I realized she's probably voting for Palin in November.

7. I'd love to see the math that got her to 14.50 in change.
20-6=14
6.51-.51=6

Nope. Hmmmmm.

20+.51=20.51
20.51-6=14.51
14.51-.51=14
Hmmm
14.51+.51=15.02

Wheeeee!

I really do appreciate that movie more and more every day. Mike Judge is a very subtle genius.

12. Wow, I missed that
Idiocracy is here. Reminds me of this story where a guy gets the cops called on him for "counterfeiting:"

http://windell.oskay.net/humor/qqqfiles/extras/taco.html">Taco Hell and the $2 Bill

You can tell how dated it is by the fact that a seven layer burrito came to $1.04.

11. Well, yeah.
People with marketable skills and a mote of intelligence aren't likely to seek careers at a Taco Time.

And on another note; Dude! You ate lunch at a Taco Time. :scared:

14. ah yes.
Taco Time is tasty but makes my tummy hurt.

The only idiocracy I've encountered lately was on a message board.

Someone asked "What does Obama like about America?" after spending an hour saying she refused to even read anything about him or his policies because he is an anti-American socialist. I told her that I rejected the basic premise of the question, that I cannot read minds and say what he likes other than to quote him directly, that she could find that information on google, and that if she really wants to know, she should email Obama and ask him.

Well, after seven pages of her attacking me and making fun of me by saying "you cannot even tell me why you're voting for him" despite me saying that is not what she asked, I finally told her why I am voting for him in a rather long and detailed reply. I don't get how "what does Obama like about America"="why are you voting for Obama" but I suppose to a Republican, it's the same damn thing or something.

It's sad. I am all for democracy, but I am so sick of people voting for people like McCain because "he totally likes working mothers and supports the military! Go USA!" without having a damn intelligent thought rattle through their heads. They repeat Rush LImbaugh crap, then get angry if I call them out on it and deny it.

blech.
