PETA urges Ben and Jerry's to use human milk
http://www.wptz.com/news/17539127/detail.html

WATERBURY, Vt. -- People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals sent a letter to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, cofounders of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., urging them to replace cow's milk they use in their ice cream products with human breast milk, according to a statement recently released by a PETA spokeswoman.

"PETA's request comes in the wake of news reports that a Swiss restaurant owner will begin purchasing breast milk from nursing mothers and substituting breast milk for 75 percent of the cow's milk in the food he serves," the statement says.

PETA officials say a move to human breast milk would lessen the suffering of dairy cows and their babies on factory farms and benefit human health.

6. Brilliant solution.
Rethugs and PETA, together at last, putting the women in their place. It was meant to be.

8. ONE Swiss guy does it as a novelty, so now clearly it's something
a probable billion dollar operation should do.

Peta are their own worst enemy.

9. what a joke....
As someone else just said, PETA really are their own worst enemy. How this will bring anyone over to their cause, I don't know. It just makes them look like assholes.

Really, as this says, the real problem is factory farming, not cows' milk. I spent a lot of my time growing up on a family run dairy farm, and two uncles of mine still run it. Just in the past few years, now that the two of them are in their 50's and 60's, they've taken on hired help. Maybe if people started campaigning to help the family farmers and shut down subsidies to industrial farming operations, something good could actually be done, but I guess enough folks in PETA would rather just make a spectacle which brings them negative publicity and accomplishes nothing. Thanks, assholes.

18. Oh FFS.
If there is ONE huge corporation out there that at least attempts to care about something other than its profit, it's Ben and Jerry's. Go bother someone else PETA. There are plenty of 'em out there worthy of your attention.
