Went to a Nightwish concert on Sunday.

Best show I've seen in YEARS, and a ton of fun. Very good band/crowd vibe.

They've still got a few shows left on the US schedule (Baltimore 9/26, and NYC 9/27), but their lead singer came down with something nasty all of a sudden, so those aren't guaranteed. Probably got it from the shows here in the South -- semi-tropical climates and Northern Europeans don't mix well. (They and their opening act -- Sonata Arctica -- both complained about the heat.) They are refunding full ticket prices in case of cancellation, though, so if you like really good metal, I'd say take a chance.

I'd have posted this earlier, but I spent Monday recovering from the concert (very little sleep over the weekend, and if you don't treat a concert like an aerobic workout, you're doing it wrong), and I've been busy today until now.

Ariana Celeste turned me on to symphonic/operatic metal awhile back — Nightwish and Therion, and I later discovered Angtoria.
