Ruh-roh....rain dilemma...Halp!
Ok, I'm going home on Saturday to paint the Ex's bedroom with him Sat/Sun.

BUT, as of right now, the weather report says 70% chance of rain for both days, all day.

BUT, I already have the hotel room reserved, and it's the best weekend for a while, homework and work -wise.

So:

Do I go, and hope paint will miraculously dry during a rainy night?

Or, go and decide to just have fun and not paint? I.e. eat out at nice restaurants, shop, drink, and play video games in the hotel room with the Ex?

Or, other?

Oy. I hate weather.

Halp! :hi:

1. Is "painting the bedroom" slang? Is he an Ex or a friend?

To ALL my Exes: I don't paint with you.

You must have the coolest ass husband evrah.

Can I ask why you always call him the Ex rather than a friend? Do you want that taken into account? Did I miss the point? The weather? Have I had too much caffeine waiting for heroes to finish torrenting?

I need to puffinchillax.

2. I don't know...most people on DU who've been here a long time
know him as my Ex, b/c I was with him years ago on here, and back then he was my BF. Plus, it differentiates him from my completely psychotic recently imprisoned Ex, aka "the psycho".

Anyway, he's my best friend for the past 17 years, and he and Sniffa get along just fine. :)

And no, painting means painting. He lives with my family part-time, to help take care of my Mom, who has ALS, b/c my lil brother can't do it alone 24-7. He wants to paint his room, and I offered to help. It's my old room, so I'd like to be involved.

And, rain/humidity means that day 1 paint won't dry by morning of day 2. That's all.

Chillax, you should. :)

3. Ahhh. I am longtime lurker and, creepily I suppose, know a bit about your DU loves.
I thought there was one Ex; all psycho.

Now I understand. I also realize via projection that I am still a very jealous ma'focker. Sigh. PUUUUUFFFFFFFFFFFF. Sigh.

4. I have a few of them, but
he's the one I call "the Ex", 'cause it's just easier that way. Shorthand.

I guess I could call him my BFF, but that's cheesy.

Eh, we don't do jealousy. It's a waste of energy. He and Sniffa like to play video games and stuff. It's all good in the hood.

But really, I'm concerned about the painting. We've been planning this for a while. Damn tropical storms. Grrrr. But I already reserved the room and I can't really reschedule. Ugh.

Maybe I'll just set up a lot of fans or something.

5. Can you get a cheap dehumdifier?
If not, setting up some fans should be good enough. Unless you're doing faux finishes you don't need the paint to be totally 100% dry to be able to roll on another layer of paint.

6. Ugh. I am so selfish. Just hook up some electric heaters n shit.
You can keep a room dry. Don't remove the tape until you are absolutely sure it is dry (he types looking askew at the jagged edged "chianti" in the kitchen that should have been touched up weeks ago...)

7. Go, paint the first coat, and if it's not dry, play on day 2
LM's suggestion for dehumidifiers might help but the first coat is the biggest PITA and he'll probably appreciate the help on that alone.

Criminy, I wish I had that problem. The paint dries fast here in the dry season. I was painting exterior trim in 60 degree weather and it was dry to the touch in 20 minutes.

8. I vote for the have fun option!
There's no way the paint is going to dry fast enough with that much humidity so you might as well save yourself the trouble and have some fun. With your hectic schedule, I bet you could use some mindless video games and alcohol with a friend!
