let's talk squirell proof bird feeders. i believe the only one that will work on a regular basis is one with electricity running thru it and zaps the bastards.

I feed birds to entertain my cats. They like watching the squirrels, too, and the squirrels interact with them on their screened porch.
I have feeders for the finches/cardinals/towhees and I ground feed for doves/thrashers/orioles. And squirrels and chipmonks.
Suet for the woodpeckers and sapsuckers. I get an occasional pileated at the suet.
I don't mind feeding all of them, but that's just me. I have the time and resources.
EDIT: oh, yeah, the jays steal dry catfood from the feral male that ghosts my property.
