Interesting experiment with the Feliway diffuser...Input?
Ok, the fighting between les chats was getting violent, so I got the Feliway diffuser. I put it in the bedroom where Milk Chan is secluded most of the day, and after an hour and a half, when she encountered the kitteh, when he tried to wrestle her, she just shrugged him off. Not like her behavior the past few days, at all.

So then we put him in there by himself for about a half hour, and he seemed pretty mellow, but she had been out in the livingroom w/out the diffuser, and they went back at it, although a little less violently than before. I'm wondering if I should get another diffuser for the livingroom, since her door is always closed, so that they will both be getting the Feliway mellowness before they interact.

Any ideas?

1. I would
We bought a diffuser before we retrieved the hordes from boarding, and it really worked. Our apartment is open, and we never close the bedroom doors, so the stuff gets everywhere. It really helps the hoomans deal with the kitties, seeing as we're outnumbered 5 to 2 (6 :2 when we moved).

The other thing is that is doesn't dull them or otherwise make the stupid, so that's a big plus. They seem to be a little less standoffish too.

Good luck!

2. They've been in Milk's room for almost a half hour and...
nobody is dead yet. :wow:

I was in there for the first 10, and there was some swatting, etc. But no full-on wrestling with claws and hair flying, like yesterday. Wow.

I left them alone for about 10, and no howling or hissing to be heard. Sniffa's in there playing with them now.

I am praying for a miracle. I need this battle to resolve itself to a tolerable level.

:)

3. I've seen your cat wounds threads
Ouch. I hope they stay calm, for your sake as well as theirs.

4. it'll help, but bear in mind that they'll eventually work it out regardless...
...although that might not mean ever being good buddies. Milk Chan is female? My experience has been that female cats are less likely to warm to other cats-- especially as adults-- than males. They'll usually find an accommodation, though. Often it means lots of personal space.

5. What is a Felliway Diffuser??
It sounds like some sort of Skinner's box where they put kids in to test their behavior? It sounds like you have rampant kitty issues. Let 'em run and they will either diffuse it eventually or kill each other! I have a strange mix of cats that would not ordinarily get along. I just let them alone, and that was about all I could do really!

OOPs forget about having nice furniture..

XXXOOOO

6. It's a pheromone diffuser. You plug it in, and it's suppose to make the kittehs feel at home,
comfortable, mellow. I didn't know it would work this quickly, though.

I always had 'em in the house when I was fostering cats.
