Fellow Canadians - is there a bigger buzzkill than CBC? |
|
Seriously. You've had a couple and sit down in front of the telly and start flipping. And then you land on some crappy CBC show about (Usually shitty) cultural activities in your area. Ugh.

3. If your back bacon was eaten, it's your fault for not protecting it |

2. I dunno, they have some good stuff, amidst the crap. |
|
Fun (except not really fun at all) fact: A dude who hosted one of the Newfoundland examples of such lame local culture shows was a neighbour of mine when I was a wee lad, apparently.

7. I don't have cable in my apartment so I rarely watch any TV news anymore. |
|
Except on lunch during work. So I don't know who's who.

6. Well, I can't speak for Canada, but the way my cable is laid out we have |

four religion channels followed by the public access channel. I can't thumb the remote fast enough to get through that wasteland...
(Although occasionally, when the buzz is just right, those religion channels are pretty good. I remember one guy dressed like a cardinal lecturing in front of a chalkboard - it was genius. And I could watch Dr. Gene Scott (God rest his soul) for weeks at a time. ;))

8. Strombo and Rick Mercer make up for most of it |
|
Though what do they show here at CBC Deadmonton every day after the noon news? A show called "Living In Calgary"!

If I remember that Mansbridge is on, I usually tune in. I have yet to check out Mercer, but from I've seen on YouTube, I'm missing out on some fine insanity. Dude.

10. The shitty local cultural activities in Halifax & Cape Breton... |
|
...are more fascinating than some of the shitty local cultural activities in Ohio (where I live).
I get CBC on my local cable. It's listed as CBET out of Windsor, Ontario, but for some reason we get the CBC Atlantic feed :wtf: where everything (except Hockey Night in Canada) is off an hour from the programming guide.
