"wisdom" tooth tomorrow am. I have already had as much oxycodone as I think I can take and the damn thing is still throbbing and keeping me awake WAY past my bedtime..

6. It's been such a long time, I don't remember what we did for wisdom teeth.
Have you tried breathing your way out to a different place? That's usually my last resort and I don't know why, it works pretty well for pain control.

5. what exactly is a "mickey"
sounds like something Kramer would say on Seinfeld... or from an old Raymond Chandler novel.

I feel your pain, almost literally... I have a tooth that may be abscessed. I got antibiotics, but NO pain meds, so it hurts whenever I touch it or think about it. I may get my root canal in 9 days if the antibiotics don't work.

Try to sleep sitting up?

7. It's adding something to alcohol that knocks you out.
(not sure what, exactly)

9. I said "EXACTLY" dammit!
Just teasing... I'm too lazy to wikipedia it... you just sounded like it was something you did on a semi-regular basis

Hope your root canal goes as well as those things ever do... take your iPod if you have one!

10. Chloral hydrate
I knew it was originally called a "Mickey Finn," but I didn't know the story behind it:

Before his days as a saloon proprietor, Mickey Finn was known as a pickpocket and thief who often preyed on drunken bar patrons. The act of serving a Mickey Finn Special was a coordinated robbery orchestrated by Finn. First, Finn or one of his employees, which included "house girls", would slip a drug (chloral hydrate) in the unsuspecting patron's drink. The incapacitated patron would be escorted or carried into a back room by one of Finn's associates who would then rob the victim and dump him in an alley. Upon awaking the next morning in a nearby alley, the victim would remember little or nothing of what had happened.
