The Los Angeles Dodgers are champions of the National League's Western Division
But there's not much celebratin' in the Oedi/Lucy household, since they won by virtue of Arizona losing to St. Louis this afternoon.

It's infinitely more fun to win it on your own, in front of your fans.

Still... :woohoo: :bounce:

6. Honestly, I doubt we'll make it that far
Depends on who we get in the NLDS; I'm more afraid of the Phillies than the Mets, though either would be a worthy adversary. If we get past whoever it is, I don't think we've got the stuff to beat the Cubs.

Should that happen, though, I think the LAAoA would beat us in five. :(

37. Even if it's only 5 games, a freeway series would kick major amounts of ass.
Seriously - LA would be baseball central for one week. New York had theirs, even the Bay Area had theirs, now we want ours, damn it!

Actually, I've had a rooting interest in the Dodgers ever since I got to San Antonio, which was the AA Dodger affiliate.

I figured a month ago this series would be the Snakes' undoing. St. Louis is just a better ball club.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but they're barely over .500, so don't get your playoff hopes up too high.

33. It actually started before that
Everybody's all "Oh, man, oh, man, oh, Manny!" But remember, that eight-game losing streak started three weeks after we got him.

The turnaround started on July 25; since then, we're 34-23. Casey Blake's been a big part of it, too, not to mention Ethier's incredible September.

42. Ethier has been amazing
But I am not afraid to admit my excitement over Manny. I think he has brought some much needed morale to the clubhouse. He seems to genuinely like it here.

I just want to win a playoff game more than once every 20 years. :D

I mean, fuck — dude had a season in like seven weeks. :wow:

But there was more to it than him. Hey, if it weren't for that Cub bastid whose folks can't spell "Giovanni," Kid DeWitt would be Rookie of the Year. And he wasn't even on the roster on Opening Day.

He gets the shaft from the Yankees, goes to LA, makes the playoffs, and the Yankees (and that scuzbucket Joe Girardi they hired) get to sit home and crochet all October.
