8. general rule of thumb...
the subject "clown" is singular - so therefore, everything else is singular in the sentence, with no "s".

Of course, if I'm wrong, an english professor could correct me.

17. I saw anyways sometimes, even though I know it's wrong.
But I think towards is correct. Certainly in Britain I am pretty sure it is correct.
