So, tell us about the time your kid caught head lice at school......

I only went through this with one kid. She has curly hair that at the time was going from baby blonde to light brunette. In other words, her hair color was the exact same color as the nits! I think she had the lice twice, and gave them to me once.

We were able to get rid of them pretty quickly with the OTC shampoo and a fine tooth comb. My worst problem was having to run home from work to fetch her from school. I don't know what the schools can do. The policy is to inspect the kids, isolate the ones with lice in the nurse's office and then call the paarents. It can be a real problem for working parents because they have to pick up the kids in the middle of the day and the kids can't go back to school until they pass inspection with the school nurse. I don't remember if my daughter had to stay out of school. I guess you blank out bad memories!
