How do I convince my mom to buy me a tricked out van? |
|
Right now it's listed on cars.com for $6000, we got $3500 in insurance when I crashed my old one (parked car...ya).
Anyway, it has a fridge, bed, wicked paint job, but it is a 1978 model...only 62500 miles, never driven in winter. I think I need it...neeeeeeeed it. Anyway...how do I convince my mom...I think the price is a little high and could be negotiated down a bit...beyond that, what do i do. (dont say get a job)

sorry.
Life isn't handed to you on a silver platter.
You don't NEEEEEED this vehicle.
You need a vehicle to go from point "A" to point "B".
This just sounds nasty.

i kno... i actually rarely have material wants...i never ask for anything for my birthday, over the last two years i got a desk and a folding table to do work on...this van just struck me as soooo coooool. soooo 1970s. The legacy of my liberal forefathers and foremothers. http://www.cars.com/search/used/cc/standard/results/single/ld/detail.jhtml?paId=140840596&aff=national&src=&cid=null

Save up your money. Sorry, I didn't get a car until I had a job, even though I begged for one when I was in college. Had to hoof it for four years.

First I have to get $1060 for my senior trip to the Bahamas...yeehaaw.
I'm getting a car anyway, it's just a matter of a Honda Civic or Toyota Corrola vs an insanely cool van
And im gonna find out what the mpg is, don't worry (probably better than a hummer, at least)

I can't buy my own tricked-out van because I have to pay for my Senior Trip to the Bahamas!
Get a job, ya spoiled brat!
When I was a lad, we didn't have tricked out vans, or the Bahamas. I had to walk to school 134 miles in the driving snow. Often, I was dead by the time I arrived, and was beaten back alive.

10. Well, between your senior trip money and your insurance money, |
|
you've got almost enough to get that van. What's your priority? And who is buying you the car that you're going to get anyway? Mumsy?

yes, i am wicked spoiled. Sort of. Most teenagers have cars in my town...if not Escalades. Shhhhh, think about it like politics, your job is to be a master persuader of my mom and my dad...not me. Edit: Check it out for yourself, it's dope http://www.cars.com/search/used/cc/standard/results/single/ld/detail.jhtml?paId=140840596&aff=national&src=&cid=null

It's (dare I say?) ....groovy!
Listen, I was just busting on you for sport. No offense intended, my friend. Still, buy it yourself. If you have to borrow some loot from mom, pay it back. You'll feel much better about driving around a classic pimp-wagon like that if you bought it with your own money.

im hoping i can get the price down. my mom was just comfortable with me in a honda accord, of course, it had no defroster, effectively blinding me to a parked car (parked way to far away from the curb imo) haha.

Get a job. Why do you think your mom should buy this for you? She exists to buy you frivolous transportation.

You exist for many wonderful reasons. (only one of which is to buy me a pimp-wagon)
Don't worry. I won't loan it to you-know-who & who-know-who!

24. I will sell you a Toyota 86 for 2000. |
|
It has 200000 plus miles, but runs great. Just ran it down to South Carolina and back to Tennessee and will do so again this weekend. Complete with a DU sticker.
