I had a hair dyeing incident. I look like Snow White.
I was trying to dye my hair "medium ash brown", but apparently that shade is more aptly characterized as "extremely frickin' dark ash brown".
Coupled with my "extremely frickin' pale white" face, it is quite the effect.
:banghead:
Now everyone is going to think that I'm trying to go emo-chic. At my age, that's a little embarrassing.
This stuff had better wash out lighter in the next week.
Thanks a lot, Herbal ASS-ences.

Only red lipstick will help to carry off the act.

3. I can not pull off red lipstick.
The effect is most unfortunate.

4. Shut UP!
I wonder if I have any black nail polish around. It would totally complete the effect.
I certainly have the requisite abundance of Cure and NIN albums...

6. Yikes!
If you used Herbal Essence, that's a temporary dye so just wash your hair every day until it lightens up to the color you wanted.
In the meantime, do you have any baseball caps? Snow White doesn't wear them so no one will mistake you for her anymore.

20. It looks a LOT darker in person.
I wouldn't mind it if it actually looked like the pic, really. The flash must lighten it.
The bookshelf is on "ignore". :P

23. have no fear, browns and reds fade much faster than other hair colors.
your hair may absorb color faster than the 'standard' that the color guide is based on.

36. I recommend the lightest shade of bronzer for you
If the actual shade is anything close to what I see right below your ear, it's nice. (It's about the same color as my hair is.) But yeah, you could use just a bit of tone in your face...and tanning is bad for you.

40. I think it's beautiful.
It really looks good, and I'm not kidding. :)

I had my own incident. My two tone light reddish brown on the bottom, ash blonde on top isn't so much what it sounds like. The reddish part forgot to show up. :(

42. Looks nice
Don't worry, it will oxidize quickly, every time I come home from getting my hair colored it is SO dark and I freak out. But within a couple days it is lighter.

I once had someone chase me down the street in Toronto in the 80s trying to borrow one. Apparently they weren't legal there at the time...

21. I'm pretty certain I blackened it
so that I could represent a physical embodiment of angst and apathy. Middle-class white kid complex. It was "cool."
Also, the whole heroin chic thing was big and I had coloring that served my efforts to conform to that ideal well.
It could've been worse. I could have been a jock.

Medium ash brown, my ass. I looked like an old Goth. The trick is to leave the stuff on no more than 10 minutes.

35. Is your hair dry?
I had a Sun-In experience in high school (wound up orange-ish so I know your pain) and I also had a perm at the time. When I tried to dye it back to close to the normal color it was almost black (normal is medium brown, which is what I was trying to achieve). Later at a hair cut the hairdresser said it was probably due to dryness from the perm.

37. If you look on the box you may find a number. Call the emergency number and
they will tell you what lighter color dye to buy to get your hair back to normal. I've done it. I once died my hair black/blue and it was really blue. I called and someone gave me the right color for my situation.

I accidentally dyed my hair green once. Note: when they say on the Loving Care directions "Not for use on bleached hair", they really mean it!
