Remember your first...
...car? Mine was an orange Vega with a 3-speed stick. Yes, 3--in those days "4 on the floor" was exciting!

God, I'm old.

16. I had one of those, ConcernedCanuck
I inherited it from my older sister who got it from our father.

I remember that it had a huge engine and it ate oil as fast as it ate gasoline.

I had it for about a year when I was 16.

Good memory. What a car! It was faster than my boyfriend's Camaro.

18. I had to to some "searching" - when you said the car was "fast" - -
.
.
.

because MINE was the slowest old sow I ever owned !

but mine was a 6 cylinder,
and from my search I find that mine had 135 horsepower (hp) NEW
- so I was probly running only about 60hp !

However, my search found the following optionsfor 1959:

V8 326 cubic inches - 255 horsepower
V8 361 cubic inches - 295 horsepower
V8 361 cubic inches - 305 horsepower
V8 383 cubic inches - 320 horsepower
V8 383 cubic inches - 345 horsepower

so -

There's a good chance YOUR car had about 200 more Horespower than mine !

here's some pics I found on the web, mine was nowhere near that nice, it was as ugly as it was slow !

20. Mine definitely had a V8 383 engine
...but I don't know what the HP was. However, in looking at the photos you posted, I think mine must have been newer because it didn't have anything fancy on it like those "fins" on that yellow one. Mine didn't look classy at all. It was utterly plain. I don't even remember any chrome on it! Only the engine was impressive. Maybe it was a 1960 model.

24. 1972 Toyota Corona Mark II
A gift from my Grandma -- although she didn't mean it as a gift. She "sold" it to my stepfather for me, but as far as I know, he never paid her anything more than the $100 he put down. Asshole.

Closest image I could find. Mine was wake the hell up! yellow, and didn't have rear-view mirrors on the front fenders.
