Those in NC-are you enjoying the snow?
Edited on Thu Feb-26-04 11:34 PM by BlackVelvetElvis
It's coming down hard and fast at my house in Davidson co.
Yankees don't laugh-We've got about 6 inches of it.
I sense a free day tomorrow! Go and enjoy mother nature.

14. My mom's from Cerro Gordo
Population 250. Everytime we go there it reminds me of Steinbeck's "Grapes of Wrath". She's a depression kid. They even moved to WS in an old truck with chickens in the back.

4. I don't see a free day in my future for tomorrow...
Here in Chapel Hill, there isn't much on the ground. Last time I checked, it wasn't even sticking. Any chance you could send some of your Davidson co. snow up here?

19. I didn't want it for today... Tomorrow, however would be nice...
It's all about the getting to roll out of bed, looking out of the window, seeing a blanket of snow covering everything in sight and going right back to bed secure in the knowledge that even if you were to try to get to work, no one else would be there anyway...

I'm still in my pajamas- my office is closed today. My cat is lying next to me on the couch, and I'm sipping hot chocolate while surfing DU and watching C-SPAN. *Purr*

from Canada. We just like to be neighbourly and share with y'all.

(At least, when I lived in NYC for awhile, they always blamed the cold on Canada.)

20. Ha. You must think 6" of snow is wimpy
As soon as it's announced that snow is coming: classes are canceled, there's mass run to the store for bread, milk, and beer, people don't show for work. Hell, it takes over the news for hours. It's an EVENT.

22. Hell no!
We're envious! We'd be getting a lot of time off here if we cancelled for less than 2 feet.

Although here in Alberta, we haven't been getting large snowfalls for many years. 6 inches during one snowfall is about average. The trouble is, the damn stuff accumulates, so it may not all fall at once, but it piles up.

No Atlantic Canada...3 feet in one snowfall is not unusual.

Anyway, enjoy the day off!

decidedly not warm outside. x(

Just went out to smoke, it's like raining snow! (Not men, unfortunately. ;)) There's been predictions of "Thunder snow-storms", which is clearly the coolest thing ever. :D

24. Yeah, it was fun...
We didn't get any shipments in today--in fact, I talked my insulation vendor out of sending me a truckload; I don't want the guy on the road in this kind of snowstorm because I know how he drives.

I did have a lot of pressure-treated lumber on the back pad to bring in. My gas-powered forklift has indoor tires on it, so it's lots of fun in a snowstorm. Got quite a bit in, but still have more to do. When we went into no-spotter hour at 10 pm, it was raining so no electric forklifts on the pad--hence no 16-foot lumber came in because the only machine we have that has crab steering is electric.

Unfortunately, I only had about eight customers today. This is going to screw my sales plan all to hell.
