Sad news, my favorite cousin died. |
|
Kathleen McQuade, 47 years old. Died in her sleep.
We grew up together in South Toms River, NJ. Kathleen had one passion, horses.
She also only had one job since she was 15 years old, taking care of horses. She was the first female jockey in history to win a thoroughbred race on her first time out. Not even Julie Krone did that.
She was the sweetest and kindest person I have ever known in my life.
I'll be going to her wake and funeral with the people in my life that I love the most, her brothers and father, and all my other cousins. We've been scattered around a little this year, life is frenetic for a lot of us during election years. It will be great to swap campaign stories with them, and even go over some last minute tactical decisions, because, you see, we're all AFL-CIO apparatchiks, but attached to different Unions.
I just wanted to tell you all about this woman, because she not only did what she loved her whole life, I don't think she knew how to do anything else.
That is a great life to me, and she deserved it.
