Truly prodigious. I was at Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin for both shows that Frank recorded to make the Bongo Fury album. One of the cultural high points of my life.
Man, I miss Austin (and Frank).

If I had one wish, it'd be to bring Frank back for one more concert (using the 1988 "big" band, of course...). I never got to see him (I was 13 in 1988) but he was my hero at the time, and still remains probably the single most influential figure in my life, after my father. He made me want to BE a musician.....

I heard Zappa play several of its songs in concert a couple of years before the album came out. (He was involved in litigation with the record company.) So the first time I heard "Bobby Brown" and "Broken Hearts Are For Assholes" was in concert; I laughed my ass off. (IIRC, that was when Adrien Belew was playing with him.)
