I'm going to Ikea tomorrow! Yay!
Ok, I guess today, technically.

Getting my Thesis desk and chair, so I can sequester myself in the spare room for the interim.

Couch + TV = No work done.

Desk + Chair + iPod - TV = Work!

And another bookcase, before we are consumed by the piles of books and magazines that surround us.

I just love a trip to Ikea and the ensuing assembly. Weeeeee! :bounce:

2. I am foregoing the Anti-War rally/march for Ikea and cleaning
I really want to go, but after my meeting with my adviser today, I know that I have to spend Sunday/Monday working on my thesis and skoolwork all day, so tomorrow has to be cleaning/new furniture/reorganizing day. Booooo!

3. Yeah, I'm missing out on an anti-war march and being an extra in a zombie movie because of work.

10. I saw you post in another thread about wanting a sewing machine
I LOVE my sewing machine. Sewing is my other means of escape - being on the computer is my main means of escape.

12. I really want one, I just don't know what kind to get!
Too many choices. I want something not too simple, not too high tech and complicated. Y'know? :)

13. I have a middle of the line Kenmore
It is not computerized, has enough stitches to serve my needs, an automatic buttonholer (very cool), and is really easy to operate.

I would heartily recommend either a mid-line Pfaff, or mid-line Kenmore for ease of use.

7. I am giving away 5 Billy Bookcases with glass doors.
Anyone who can come and take them can have them. I'm giving away almost everything I own. Surprisingly, I'm finding out that it's pretty difficult to just give stuff away.

I am swamped with work, unfortunately. x(

I hope your new place is good. :)

11. I tried HousingWorks first.
They take donations of all kinds and operate thrift stores and book/CD shops to raise money for their services. But they won't come out to Staten Island to pick anything up, and I can't deliver furniture to them. So they won't take it.

It totally blows my mind that they can't drive one of their trucks from Brooklyn into Staten Island for a pick up if I'm giving them an entire furnished apartment full of stuff. But whatever...

I've put the word out to all my friends, and all my kitchen toys, appliances, gadgets, and cast iron cookware are now gone. Yay!

Posting something on craigslist and freecycle is going to be my next step.
